- I spend too much money.
- I need to spend less.
- I don't know where the money goes and I'd like to find out.
- I have big dreams (move to France for a year!, live in Vegas for 4 months!) and big goals (own property....in Vegas or France!) and big plans (please refer to Vegas and France) and I don't want all my $$$ to get pilfered away on booze (delicious booze), food (mmmm dinners out are fun!), parties (yay, parties!) and the inevitable black holes (Tim Hortons, Starbucks, shopping trips).
Money is rarely lost in the hundreds. It's the $1 here and the $5 there that add up and make you poor and put you in debt.
$149.75/week
After all the fixed expenses (rent, heat, hydro, cable, internet, etc) and savings (via work and personal accounts) and RRSP contributions are taken care of, this is what is left= $599/month. This also removes the $500 that I am supposed to be saving each month ever since I got rid of the ol car in December. Then I also took off an extra couple hundred or so.
Just for fun. ;)
Rules (I can only add rules to this list):
- Spend $149.75/week to a max of $599/month
- Borrow, beg or barter for any expenses over and above the budget
- Have fun every weekend (@ least one night out) and plan fun, no budget/low budget activites for 2 other nights per week
- Host at least 1 dinner party for 6+ people...keeping the budget in mind.
- Find money. It's in your home somewhere. Find it and pump up your budget with it. Any money you find, you can use.
- Get creative. The best things in life ARE free. Find them. If you don't like them, ask for a refund. ;)
Wish me luck!
FYI - April 1 was Day 1. By day 5 I was already $50 over budget.
Yikes!
