Apparently candies and chocolates don't help you slim down...hmmm

Same old, same old....and then add a few lbs too. Whoops.
183.5, up 2lbs
Well I shouldn't be surprised, after all, I did stuff my face with chocolates and chips and other random goodies this week.
mmmmmmm to m&m's.

My task this week was to take a tacky, bare room and turn it into a lounge that screams, belts out and yells our company name. When you walk into this room, there was to be no mistaking who it belongs to and where you were.  Insert posters, banners, helium filled balloons and tons of company swag here.
In the end, it looked like the room practically threw up our comp's name. In a good way of course. Or at least in the best way that one can throw up.

Opening ceremonies were today (in case you're crazy enough to have missed them!!?) and we wanted to make sure the wireless and telephony technicians working 'round the clock  to bring you uninterrupted internet and satellite service had snacks, drinks and a place to watch the games (during their well deserved breaks) for the next month or so. My second task was to fill this lounge with snacks, foodies and goodies and by golly I had to test out  the merchandise, right?? tee hee

Well I'm happy to report that the chips, chocolates, candies and snacks are all 100% okay!

And as the scale can attest to - yes you CAN gain 2lbs in 2 days. All the fun stuff was purchased on the 9th, opened on the 10th and stuck to my thighs and belly on the 11th.

Tomorrow's a rest day but I'll be back at it on Sunday. Love day you say?? No problem. I'll spend the first 2 hours of the day making sweet, sweet love to the elliptical and weight machines. I start isolation exercises that day beginning with the inner and outer thigh areas. Some people say it can't be done, but I say it can!!

Wish me luck!

If I lived on the moon, I'd weigh soooo much less

Damn weigh-ins!
They're supposed to happen today so that I can ENJOY the weekends!
184 - yikes!
I demand a recount! Surely I must be holding onto water weight? Maybe that thai dinner from Wednesday is still sticking to my ribs??
My own fault though, I have been slacking on the controlled eating part.  I think I may have to go back to daily posts as these 4 times a weeks are encouraging me to eat a little extra on the days that I don't post.
Damn accountability!
T-minus 6 days until Vegas and I was hoping to be a svelte 179 instead of a bloated 180+. 6 days, 5lbs.....can I do that??
Hmmmmm

ROLL CALL

Breakfast (8:15am):

Oatmeal - maple syrup & brown sugar flavour
Clementines (to eat throughout the day)

Lunch:
Homemade stir-fried rice (made 3 servings)

- 1.5 cups cooked brown rice
- 1&1/2 cup green peas & chopped carrots
- 3 oz rotisserie chicken
- 2 oz shrimp
- 1/2 cup onions & garlic
- 1 medium free range egg

Stir-fry it all together with soy sauce and oyster sauce and voila!

Dinner:
3oz extra lean ground beef burger
1 ‘Burger first’ whole wheat bun (they’re thin like pitas)
1 Kraft cheese slice
Garden Salad
1 tbsp of Kraft zesty Italian salad dressing
-Large handful of McCain fries (Spicy spirals)

Clearly my actual stomach was smaller than my eyes because 30 minutes later this remained on my plate:

The legend of the shrinking stomach may not be false at all. Gasp!

DRINKS:
H2O:  12 glasses
Green tea: 4 cups (1 tea bag, mug refilled 3 times)

EXERCISE:
The trainer said it'd be "fun" today. I laughed immediately out of nervousness.
Workout of the day:
1. Kettle bell swings (16kg, 25 reps, 5 rounds)
2. Double unders - skipping (passing the skipping rope around twice before your feet hit the ground): as many as you can in 5 minutes (I did 79, phew!)

3. 100 full situps (shoulders to the ground each time)
4. 50 Box jumps @ about my knee level for height to jump up

So she was right. As workouts go, this one was relatively mild. Her definition of fun was still incorrect but if I replace that word with 'sweaty' or 'will make you feel it in the morning', then yes, I agree it was 'fun'.

And the winner is…

1000’s of workout hours, 100’s of healthy meals carefully planned out, dozens of supportive friends and family members, 9 health-minded gals, 6 month timeline, goal setting of 1-2lbs per week, 1 cash prize, 0 excuses.

The Final STATS (June 13th, 2009 to Dec 13th, 2009)
Height: 5’7” (no change, heh heh)
% weight loss: 17.8%
In lbs: 39lbs

Inches lost
Bust: 3.5″
Waist/abdomen: 5″
Hips: 4″ (still got that booty, woo!)

So the final weigh in was this past Sunday and yay, I WON!!

$900 was the pot and less the $100 I spent on drinks and appies that evening, that leaves me with $800 to buy some new, much needed, duds.

My shopping list:
New runners, workout tops, jogging pants, jeans that fit, work pants that fit (yee gads this is 9-1-1!),  a winter jacket, a workout hoodie (preferably an Olympic one), a leather weekend bag, a few winter sweaters from Old Navy, winter boots, rain boots,  a new belt, a blazer from Banana Republic (on sale of course), a couple new shirts, a few blouses and anything else I held off buying for the last 6 months. To put it in perspective, for the past 3 weeks I’ve been using safety pins, a $9 belt on its tightest rung, a dash of hope and a heap-load of prayers to keep my work pants up.

I think it’s finally time to go shopping.

So I weighed myself this morning and I'm already up 4lbs, lol! Tomorrow we have a catered brunch @ work followed by a potluck on the Thursday, Chinese food dinner Thursday night, Christmas party the Friday night, a bday party the Saturday night and then a farewell dinner at East Side Mario's on the Sunday.

Eating black holes. Thank goodness I won already. :)

Dessert (yay! Its been so long -9pm):
1 slice of apple pie - i had this slice of heaven in the freezer since thanksgiving (Canadian thanksgiving was oct 9th this year) with plans to inhale it once I won. Totally worth it and it tasted soooo dang good!
1/2 cup of Nestle vanilla ice cream  with white chocolate pieces

DRINKS: 10 glasses of water

EXERCISE: 20 minute jog, 20 minute walk

Now I'm baking cupcakes for the potluck on Thursday and will have to frost and decorate them tomorrow night. I just have to hold off on the taste testing till then.

I have a crazy week followed by a temptation filled weekend ahead of me.
Yee gads people. Wish me luck. I know I'm gonna need it.....

Dear scale: I love you.... P.S. I still love you

183.5lbs! (Down 4lbs from last Friday)
Thank you scale, thank you!
This award means so much to me! First of all, I would like to thank water, of which I drank 10+ glasses per day this week; protein shakes- which I brought back into the rotation and have certainly contributed to this award; a big thanks to me for forgetting to set the alarm last night so I got an extra 1 hour and 15 minutes of sleep today (and you know what that means!) and I would especially like to thank my friend who stood me up yesterday for dinner (it was a guy dinner too, which I love!) which allowed me to go to spin class instead to get all that annoyance and anger out. Argh!

Thank you and I hope to see all of you (well most except for you - jerky guy friend!!) next Friday @ 181.5lbs!

ROLL CALL
Breakfast (9:15am):
Smoothie
Scoop of protein - (25g of protein)
1/4 cup of strawberries
1/4 cup of blueberries
1/3 banana
1/2 cup of milk
1 1/4 cup plain, full fat yogurt

Mid morning snack (11:15am):
2 oz Boursin cheese
5 crackers

Lunch (1:15pm):
Pita Salmon wrap

Mid afternoon snack (3:30pm):
1 'Elevate Me' brand protein bar (15g protein)

DRINKS:
10 glasses of water
3 cups of green tea (1 tea bag and mug refilled 3 times)

EXERCISE: None today. Quads are still a little tender from the spin class. Plus I slept in over and hour which threw my whole schedule off. Will do a 1.5 hour boxing class this Sunday to make up for it and 1hr+ in the gym tomorrow morning.

Dinner (7:30pm to ???):
TBD (to be determined) My girlfriends and I are going to the mall and I plan to eat there. Could be good or could be disastrous (Mrs Fields, ManChu Wok,  oh the devilishly delicious possibilities are endless! )
Wish me luck!  I will cruise off my 4lb weight loss till Monday!
***update****
I think if there was a wagon then I not only fell off it but ran like heck in the opposite direction, hopped on a train and kept going. Whoops! Better luck tomorrow. ;)

It began innocently enough at that food whore- Mrs. Fields:
  • 2 mini milk chocolate with pecans
  • 1 mini pecan fudge brownie

We then did some shopping and circled back to the food court and to U-Grill for dinner:
  • 3 cups grilled veggies
  • 3 oz shrimp, beef and teriyaki chicken
  • A reasonable serving of chow mein noodles
We then proceeded to Old Navy and surprise! It was their customer appreciation night where I indulged in:
  • 2 mini chocolate chip cheesecake bites
  • 1/2 can of grape soda
Full from the Old Navy love, we then shopped the rest of the mall and ended the night at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory where I had:

  • A free sample (a sliver really) of the chocolate and caramel covered apple
  • 100g of chocolate and pecan covered English toffee (my absolute favourite of all time!)
Then on the way home, I needed something salty (too much sweet!) so I picked up:
  • A small container of spinach dip
  • A crusty french roll

I turned down late night drinks with friends (shopping is so tiring!) and now I'm craving a big dish of good ol' poutine from down the block (For those of you who don't know, it's fries, topped with cheese curds and smothered in gravy - a late night staple). But instead I will write in the blog, chug a few more glasses of water and then make myself go to bed.

At least this way, in my dreams I can munch on all the poutine my heart desires! The only calorie/fat free way to go. :)

Happy Dreaming Eating!
