How random messages from an ass can help to motivate ‘your’ ass

In this case I was debating whether or not I should go to hot yoga this evening as it’s a 2hour time commitment. In comes a random text from the ex.

Angry that I had sent him a cheque for money I said I would give him. Well not angry for that. Actually he was angry that I included a brief note (or letter as he called it) that simply said:

Hi (insert the dumbass’ name here),
I hope all is well with you and yours.
Thanks for your patience (I had meant to write the cheque in January and never got around to it)

Cheers!
Signed me (plus I'm sure I added a happy face)

Hmmm. I may have also added an 'xoxo' but that's not really like me.
I thought it would be too cold and heartless just to send a cheque in an empty envelope. To me it would be a slap in the face from someone I just spent years with. Was I wrong???  His text to me was how dare I be so fake and nice and send him letters when in reality I was so mean and horrible to him.

We’ve broke up over 6 months ago and he has a new gf, they have a puppy together and they live together too. I don’t understand how being nice can be a bad thing. I want them to be happy. Well him at least. I could care less about his new whore. Lol!

One of gf's says to be flattered cuz obviously he still has some unresolved issues.

In any case, it definitely worked to get me all riled up and now I MUST go to the gym! After all, the best revenge is looking and feeling great and I always feel POWERFUL after hot yoga.

Damn right!!!

Anywho, just wanna say thanks to my ex for this much needed motivational push.

Ha!!! Any random ex lover stories out there? The weirder the better too. ;)

Happy Vengeance!

I've sprained my medulla oblongata!!

If you've ever seen the movie The Waterboy with Adam Sandler, then you would totally get that reference.  hee hee hee. No what I actually did was pull/strain/sprain a tendon in my knee.

  • Diagnosis: strained my Patellar tendinopathy
  • Cause: Over use, over exertion and not enough stretching prior to a heavy quad focused workout last thursday (felt so good too!)
  • Cure: Limit leg/knee movement, ice the knee and take anti inflammatories for any swelling.
Booo!

Limited movement and definitely no gym or hot yoga or boxing or running, or jogging or walking home.

I can feel myself getting fatter every day. Wah!!

Today is day 2 of no exercise. I don't know how people can live without working out.  I miss my 5 to 6 days a week at the gym! Now all I have left is food and TV. I can't go shopping and I shouldn't be moving it too much so I'm left with nothing to do.

Well not nothing, but nothing I want to do.  Damn you budget. I can't even buy my happiness now that I'm on a $149.75/week spending cap. A bottle of vodka is at least $23 here. Shoot.

So my knee is out but surely there must be other exercises I can do while laying on my back??
Oh that sounds so dirty! lol! Seriously though, can't anyone help or point me in the right direction?

What exercises can I do that won't aggregate my pulled tendon?

Thanking you kindly,
xoxo

My job is making me fat

When I'm bored - I eat. If there's no food to eat, then I go and get food to eat.
I'm working on the Olympic team as a girl Friday (ie everything that needs to get done, they can ask me to help get it done) but as the Olympics are currently running smoothly (yay!), there's not much to do right now. Leading up to the Olympics there was actually so much to do that I was too busy to eat. Now though, while the Olympics are taking place around us and everyone is at their posts, doing what they're supposed to do, we can now sit back and watch the magic happen.
Now there's always something to do and a task to be completed and some administrative work to do, but once you switch from 14 hour days (with 20 hours of work to do) to 7.5 hour days (with 7.5 hours of work to do) you don't get that constant rush of adrenaline.Sigh. Who would ever think I'd miss 10+ hour work days and my lack of a social life.
Sigh. Good times

Current Office Treats:
  • Cookies (oatmeal raisin, white chocolate chip and dark chocolate chip
  • High calorie/high fat processed granola bars
  • Snickers bars
  • Mars bars
  • Rum balls (I don't know why the cafeteria brought these in for February???)
  • Xmas cookies (see comment above)
  • Ferrero Rocher  (mmmmm this is good anytime of year!)
  • Cadbury 100 calorie chocolate bars
  • Rice Krispie squares
Current Waist Size : Size 10 but still pending.... As of today I've said no to all of the above but the Cadbury chocolate and the Ferrero Rocher.  C'mon, its Ferrero Rocher! You don't say no to that. You simply accept your fate and add 30 minutes to your cardio session. Deal!

ROLL CALL:

I've been slacking on writing down what I eat. But no longer! I promise to blog it out at least 3 to 4 times a week, including one weekend day (because weekends are when I'm usually naughty- food wise AND otherwise, hee hee).

Breakfast:
1/2 cup all bran cereal
1/2 cup almond crunch cereal
1 banana, sliced
3/4 cup 2% milk

Lunch:
Ham and cheese sandwich on rye
1.5 cups lentil soup

Afternoon Snack (yah, I was a little hungry today):
2 cups pasta
1/2 cup pasta sauce
2 oz in meatballs

Snacks:
Ferrero Rochers! 4....@ last count, hee hee hee
Cadbury 100 calorie chocolate bars (1 QTY, woo!)
How can something so delicious be so wrong!?

Dinner:
1/2 cup brown rice
1 cup sweet and sour pork
2 cups mixed vegetables
Drinks:
Coffee! Soooo much coffee!
Water: ummmm  not so much. Only 6 glasses. Must drink more tomorrow. And hopefully, less coffee.

Exercise: Forced myself to go (haven't been since last Thursday)
30 minutes elliptical (level 16/20)
6 minutes stepper (level 12/20)

Tomorrow is a new, better, healthier, more active day!!!

Pre vacation fasting: So THATs how that 'post blog' button works. Ohhhhh

Whoops!
Before I left for Vegas, I meant to post this but completely forget! No way am I gonna delete this, so you simply get it a few days late. :)

TUESDAY JANUARY 19TH, 2010

Last day till the infamous Vegas vaycay so of course eating healthier is MUCH easier today. Plus I know my partner in crime and I will have snacks galore for the next few days so fasting now is easy! The hard part will be when I get back. After a few days of eating 'fast'ly and conveniently, I'll definitely need to do a cleanse. Maybe several.

ROLL CALL
brekky (8:30am)
3/4 cup plain organic yogurt
1/2 cup organic grains
1/3 cup blueberries
5 clementines (for throughout the day)

mid morning snack(11:30am)
1 cup baby carrots

lunch (1:30pm)
I've been craving egg salad for awhile now so I thought I'd make some.

the egg salad recipe:
2 medium free range eggs, boiled, cooled and finely chopped
2 tsp miracle whip
1 tbsp horseradish mustard
1/4 cup each green pepper, orange pepper and onion - finely sliced
dash of Worcestershire and tobasco sauces
black pepper and sea salt to taste
* I mix the sauce and veggies together and toss in the chopped eggs in the end

The egg salad sandwich with organic, no flour, sprouted grain bread and lettuce:

mid afternoon snack (3:30pm)
1 cup vegetable soup

din din (7:45pm)
Too lazy to cook and craving a stir fry which, to me, is a meal that takes forever cuz of all the cutting and prep work, I went to a take out stir fry place. For just $8, you can pick from a buffet of veggies and meats and sauces and then they grill it for you on a large grill. yay! I love inexpensive conveniences.
oh and I tossed out the white rice. I just wanted the meat and the veggies.

my veggies
broccoli
mushrooms
carrots
onions
garlic
mini corns
bean sprouts
cabbage
my meats
lamb
chicken
beef
my sauces
garlic
mongo jam (hot sauce)
ginger

drinks:
Water - 12 glasses
Green tea - 4 mugs (1 tea bag)

exercise:
60 minute Spin class. The purpose of this class was to 'train the mind'.  We were to train our minds to last longer than our bodies. The theory behind it was that your mind tells you to stop long before your body needs to. So the class was a bunch of long sets on the bike where we had to train our minds to ignore distractions and keep going.
One cool tip she passed on to us: Smile when you work out. Your mind won't know why you're smiling but will assume you're happy and you'll be able to work out longer.
Cooool!
It definitely worked so I'll try it for any rough patches during a workout in the future.

Cheers for now and see you on the other side of Vegas where I will happily share the sordid (and potentially NON sordid if any) details. :)

Time for a revamp!

Spring Cleaning will come earlier this year.
I can't wait for March to arrive before I sweep these cobwebs out of this closet.
I've always wanted to dress better, to look better and to feel better and I want to start now!
The best way to go about doing this...make a plan!
I love making plans.  I also love breaking the plan but I'm always happy that I at least made a plan to break.
It's a sick and vicious cycle that I definitely plan to break. heh heh .

So here's the plan:
1. Dress Better
Options - get a stylist, start reading People and In Style magazine and buy new clothes...
I think I can do that!

2. Look Better
Options - buy clothes that fit, update wardrobe, add to the exercise program (salsa classes anyone?), eat better, hire a chef (oh I can dream can't I?), hire a meal delivery service, laser skin therapy (I have adult acne -ick!), crest white strips, etc

3. Feel Better
This is all self improvement,
Options: Business classes (any subject), massage therapy, volunteer, donate my time and $$$ to social change, go to yoga ( I love it but can't seem to make myself go to the 90minute hot yoga classes anymore), get myself out there (socially and career wise), etc

I also need to do all of the above on a budget. Hmmmm. I might have to add a 4th category : Make Better Money.

Mid afternoon snack (3:30pm)
1 cup vegetable soup

Dinner (8:30pm)
3 cups chopped Romaine lettuce
1.5 tablespoons of zesty Italian dressing
2 small whole wheat cheese, veggie and chicken quesadillas
with plain yogurt (instead of sour cream)

Drinks
10 glasses of Water
4 mugs of green tea (1 tea bag, mug refilled 3 times)

Exercise

What's the fat content in prime rib?

Although I'm sure I don't wanna know!
This is the kind of dish I only order when someone else is paying. This time it was my work. All day Saturday till 1030pm. Then snowboarding on Sunday.
Where does the time go??

But you can read all about my fun weekend of salsa dancing right here: http://nelleytimes.wordpress.com/(my other blog) it's a weekly one and usually occupies my entire Sunday. I don't mind though cuz it's great fun.

My company is a sponsor of the 2010 Olympics so we had dinner @ a steakhouse as they've rented out for the entire Olympic games for special guests, etc.
Cool.
So us lucky volunteers got a taste of what those lucky bastards will be eating over the entire course of the games.
It was a plated dinner and although I could have picked the healthier options (shrimp cocktail followed by salmon entree followed by NO dessert and NO alcohol) that's unfortunately not the way I roll. ;)

Steakhouse dinner ROLL CALL:

Starter:

Roasted tomato and goat cheese tartlet: slow roasted Roma tomatoes & Salt Spring Island goat cheese on a puff pastry tartlet with a pesto finish. (Honestly, I could have stopped eating right here. This is the size of my typical dinners! I must remember this for next time.)

Entree:
Prime rib (medium rare but I should have gone medium well) with all the fixins!
"Slow roasted all day in our sea salt rub, served with pomme puree, seasonal vegetables & Classic Yorkshire Pudding"

Dessert:
Vanilla creme brulee - my absolute favourite all time dessert EVER! Luckily, I am only treated to this deliciousness once a season. My thighs thank me!

DRINKS (Today)
Water - 13 glasses
Green tea - 4 cups (1 tea bag, mug refilled 3 times)

EXERCISE (Today)
My gym has challenges every few months and this month (finals are in March) the challenge was this:
Deadlifts  (picking up weight off the floor and then putting it back down again) @ 110lbs and a new form of torture called handstand push ups. They are exactly as they sound.
21-15-9
So you lift the bar with 110lbs of weight (deadlifts) on it 21 times then you do handstand push ups 21 times then you go back to the bar and do 15 deadlifts and then the handstand push up 15 times, etc.

I was allowed to do modified push up as I'm not yet able to do a handstand against a wall and push off from the ground even once, let alone 45 times!!
My time: 14:01. In March we will all do the exact same workout again and will compare our times and we'll get to see how much we've improved.

I can't fricking wait, she said sarcastically. Must rest now as my arms, they are a hurtin'.

A technical error in my favour - when scales break down

One of the only good things to come out of my 2+ year relationship with my ex is a recipe for leftovers that he called 'Breakfast Hash'
The ingredients were simple - eggs, cheese, leftover steak & vegetables from the overpriced dinner we had the night before. I happily (read: bitterly) share the detailed recipe with you all below...

Recipe: Leftover Scramble (formerly titled - 'One of the few things he could get right')

Step 1: Chop everything up and add it to the fry pan. In my dish: onions, turnips, beets, garlic, shitake mushrooms (all that I could find in the fridge), and asparagus

Step 2: add your steak right before the eggs and grated cheese. In this case I had half a prime rid steak from a family dinner the night before.

Step 3: And finally add the egg, grate some cheese on top and scramble to taste.

Sometimes it doesn't look too pretty (It was a 2pm breakfast and I was too hungry to garnish it up) but man is it delicious. As for healthy- that really depends on your mood and how much cheese you need to use in order to get over last night's hangover. ;)

Also, I'm in a great mood cuz I just weighed myself on my little bro's VERY inaccurate scale and it said I weighed only 172! woo! 10lbs less than when I first flew out to Toronto 5 days ago. I know it's wrong but magically my pants and clothes are looser thanks to this magical (and VERY inaccurate) scale. But I don't care - skinny me, woo!
I plan to pack it and take it home with me. I will let my friends pay me if they want to step on it themselves.

Instant mood booster for only $5 a pop. I will also happily ship this magical scale across continents if its services are needed elsewhere. Wanna lose 10lbs in 10 days?? Fiddle with your scale! After all, weight loss is mostly mental anyway, right?? I believe I've lost 10bs therefore I AM 10lbs lighter. ;)

EXERCISE: 1.5 hours at the local gym
45 minutes - cardio (sprints on treadmill, stepper)
45 minutes - weight training (triceps, biceps, back, chest and shoulders)

Drinks

WATER: 10 glasses
ALCOHOL: 2 glasses: 1 pina colada and 1 seagrams sea breeze cooler

Happy eating!

How do you go up a pants size in only 4 days!

The holiday season, that's how.
Usually they advertise how to LOSE a dress size in that tme frame, not GAIN one. argh!
I'm still a size 10 for now, but its a tight fit.
Thank goodness my sexy New Year's dress is actually a size too big because now I will easily fit into it.
Tomorrow I go back to the gym and I will also make sure that its the first day that my water comsumption exceeds my alcohol consumption....hopefully. Drinks are flowing here in Toronto and I don't know how to say no. Nor do I want to. heh heh heh
Tomorrow is also my last day in Toronto & I fly back to Vancouver on the 30th to get prepared for the huge party on the 31st . Also, it's my last day to hang with that cool new guy I met the other night. He's so gorgeous and fit....and lives in Toronto.
Hmmmm. I never really did figure out how all that;s gonna work but carpe deim -seize the day! I can't spend my time thinking about the "How's that gonna work" for everything! It just will. You'll see. :)

I got what I wanted.....so why does it hurt so bad??

Ow.
My stomach hurts.  Its gurgling and twisting and making sounds that I'm not used to hearing.
Owwwwww.
Had my whiskey burger from Red Robin! So delicious and instead of the bottomless fries they come with I opted for the garden salad with balsamic dressing. I was so excited to see the burger in fact that I scarfed it down before taking its picture (see borrowed one below). whoops! Oh well. When I go back there in 6 months or so, I'll remember to take a picture of it then. tee hee. My date got a pasta dish and ate it so quickly that I didn't even have a chance to steal some off his plate. And you know how I love that!

Saw the movie Couple's Retreat tonight and it reminded me that I should really think about finding my soul mate one of these days. I assume, nay, I KNOW he's out there, I just have to go out there and track him down wherever he may be (I'm hoping he's in France, le sigh). While the movie had some lame parts (don't they all?), overall it was a fun movie, I had a lot of laughs and since my date paid for it all, it was well worth the money. hee hee hee.
Early night tonight (that means in bed before midnight) and off to the gym @ 7AM tomorrow. Its crossfit time people and this bootcamp type workout is going to kick my ass for the whiskey burger....and the popcorn with butter at the movies.
Totally worth it!

Baked chicken stuffed with cheese and broccoli (4 g fat, 160 cals)
1/2 cup brown rice
2 cups steamed broccoli and carrots with 1 tsp ghee (clarified butter)

Afternoon snack (4pm)

Breaking up is easy!

SLIMMING TIP: Breakin' it up.  Experts suggest 30 minutes a day of cardio but I prefer to do 45min to at least 1hour. Does 45 mins on the treadmill sound like too much? I typically break it down into 15 to 20 minutes segments to keep it light and fun.

BREAKING NEWS:
I'm in a competition with 8 other slim-challenged girlfriends to drop as much excess baggage as we can.  We started this competition back in June of this year. But as of Friday, November 13th, there will be only 30 days left. On December 13th, we each take part in the FINAL weigh-in. The winner takes home the $900 pot. Plus they get to plan a celebratory party for the group while we celebrate our healthier (and hopefuly MUCH slimmer selves.)

What this means - no more dilly dallying, No more joking around and no more excuses!

Eeek!

Tomorrow's game plan: Get some new recipes (courtesy of some fellow bloggers, thanks!), figure out a work out schedule and plan for any hiccups (dinner parties tomorrow and saturday night and a vegas trip for the first weekend of December). Plus I'll need tons of motivation, support and good friends who'll forgive me when I snap at them because I cut of sugar for a few days (I'm curious to see how long I can last -sugar free!).

Wish me luck!

ROLL CALL
Breakfast (8:15am):
The ol' breakfast smoothie. Yes, I'm a little sick of them too so I'll need to get some nw recipes for this one.

Mid morning snack (11:15am):

1 free rande, organic boiled egg

Lunch (1pm):
Leftover nicks spaghetti house so
1 breaded veal cutlet with cheese
3/4 cup spaghetti
1.5 cups of mixed veggies in sauce

Dinner (8:30pm):
Greek Salad with grilled chicken
Feta cheese
Black olives
Cucumber
Romaine lettuce
Tomatoes

DRINKS:
10 glasses of water
3 cups of green tea (2 tea bags, mug refilled)

EXERCISE:

45 minutes of sprints and walking on the treadmill

Happy Eating!

Free food for all! My second weakness.

Free breakfast at work and leftover free breakfast items throughout the day.
Lunch will be light (tuna sashimi) and dinner will have to be lighter (garden salad maybe??). This is the plan for now but we'll see how that goes... wish me luck!

SLIMMING TIP:Take some rest. After power squats on Monday and Spin class last night, my quads are screaming at me when I move and my legs feel like jelly. Yay! This means they're building new muscle tissue and that the workouts are working. The burn felt good and this continued tolerable burn feels better! It also means I'm burning calories, even as I sit on my butt here @ work. Resting sometimes makes you feel guilty but resting is so important in order to avoid burnout, fatique and potential injury. 30 minutes of treadmill sprints are calling to me but alas, I cannot answer. Tomorrow it is!

ROLL CALL:

Breakfast (9:15am):
1/2 whole wheat bagel with bacon, cheddar cheese and an egg
1 mini croissant
Nibbled on a 1/4 of a slice of banana bread (then tossed it out! I banish thee, extra calories!)

Lunch (1:15pm):
1 order of Tuna sahimi with soy sauce, ginger & wasabi paste
1/4 sesame bagel with
More nibbling - chocolate coffee cake (turns out I don't like this - yuck!), cinnamon danish (3/4 of one)

Dinner:
Hmmmm still full from nibbling all day. I have a crab cake salad pencilled in for dinner in the meal plan but we'll see if i feel like that later on. Right now I'm craving nice hot soup.
***Update**

1/2 cup of chicken enchilada soup (7:15pm)
Out for dinner (9:15pm):
Steak and goat cheese salad - my favourite!
6oz steak (I asked for medium rare & got medium well - argh!)
Mixed greens
2 oz goat cheese
Herb vinaigrette dressing (on the side)
My guy friend ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries so I also had 5 fries and 2 bites of his burger. I love boys! All the taste with none of the guilt.

EXERCISE:
No exercise today. Sigh. It's a day of rest for me. Ooooo! I think I'll do some sit ups and crunches later on in front of the TV. I need to do SOMETHING active and that doesn't involve my leg muscles. Yay! Crunches it is.

DRINKS:
Green tea - 3 cups (1 tea bag, mug refilled 3 times)
1 cup of coffee - 2 packs of half&half cream and 1 brown sugar packet
6 glasses of water (so far) 4 to go!

Weight Loss on TV -The Biggest Loser

Slimming down is great but does the show have to be so annoying about it?

Product placements galore! I don't mind being advertised to but please just be honest with us and let us know that you know that we know that Subway, Extra gum, Ziploc and Jell-O, amongst others, are all throwing money at you for a spot on your show. Transparency is key.

In today's episode, contestants won Subway sandwiches (if you're a fan of cheap, bland and tasteless than Subway is for you!), and trainer Bob Harper harped on how great EXTRA gum is for cutting your cravings.
I decided to review weight loss shows on TV for this blog and now I'm suffering, on a weekly basis, through 2 hours of this sob-fest filled with sorry backstories, forced dramatic cuts to commercial and exorbitant amounts of weight being shed at a rate that would discourage even the most casual viewer from starting on the journey. Humph!

Dropping 1 to 2lbs a week is great. Amazing even if you can keep it up. However, have you checked out their daily 3hr workout plan (who, with a full time job, has the time!) and the diet (oh they are definitely on a restrictive diet to which I say booo).

Luckily, the $250,000 end prize is enough to convince contestants to bare their souls (and their big bellies) for all to see on national TV. I'll keep watching for now. Maybe I'll develop an appreciation for the show over time. Doubtful though.

SLIMMING TIP: Find your groove. The biggest problem I have with the Biggest Loser is that they don't show the fun side to slimming down. Everyone on camera is always in pain, crying or whining or almost dying in some cases. Yes, people are happy with the end results and double digit losses but they should work out because it feels good and not just because of the end goal. Being active and pushing your body to the next level is a great feeling and the natural endorphins you get from working out are reward enough. Our personal task - find activities we love to do and do them because we love them.

**Tee hee. I snuck a peak @ the scale today and yay - 185.5! Well on my way to getting to 184 on Friday. I must stay on track and achieve a drop of 2lbs each week. Lots of water, increasing my protein intake and lots of fun exercise is the plan. I can DO this!
ROLL CALL
Breakfast (9:15am):
Breakfast smoothie (fast and easy and I always have bags of sliced fruits in my freezer)
1/2 cup plain full fat yogurt
1/4 cup strawberries
1/4 cup sliced bananas
1/4 cup blueberries
1/2 cup organic 1% milk
1 scoop of protein (25g of protein)
1 tsp of raw honey
Midday snack (11am):
2oz goat cheese/Boursin cheese
8 crackers

Lunch (1:15pm)
3/4 cup cheese filled whole wheat ravioli
1/2 cup grilled zucchini
1/2 cup Classico tomato sauce
1 cup of steamed broccoli
1/2 cup of steamed carrots
1 tsp butter
1 piece of salt water taffy

Midafternoon snack (3:15pm):
3/4 cup cheese stuffed whole wheat ravioli
1/2 cup grilled zucchini
1/2 cup Classico brand tomato sauce
1 bite size kit kat bar- mmmmm

Dinner (9pm)
Caesar salad
1/4 cup avocado
1/4 cups chopped red pepper
1/4 cup chopped celery (instead of bread crumbs and it gives your salad a nice, satisfying crunch!)
3 cups chopped romaine hearts
3 oz grilled chicken breast
Dressing:
3/4 tablespoon low fat Caesar dressing
3/4  tbsp Italian dressing
1 tsp flax seed oil
Dash each of sea salt, pepper, Worchester sauce, wasabi paste, tobasco sauce

Oh yes and 4 QTY chicken wings. Mmmm - actually they weren't that good, too chewy and not crispy at all so I nibbled at two of them disappointedly and tossed the rest out. Boo to bad wings!

EXERCISE:

Half the battle is just getting your butt to the gym

SLIMMING TIP: Just get to the gym. Make yourself go and get on a machine. If you still don't feel like working out once you're there, then feel free to go home. The hope is that by the time you make the effort to get to the gym that you'll want to stay. Half the battle is getting your butt there in the first place. I have at times made myself go to the gym and just wasn't feeling it so I allowed myself to go home and work out for a longer period the next day. Forgive yourself and move forward. You can overcome any obstacle!

Mini goals - Helping you make your way to the bigger ones

SLIMMING TIP: You have your big goal (the # of lbs that you want to drop) but there are also the little week by week mini goals that will help get you to the bigger goals. Set mini goals and stick to them. I'm going to set one new mini goal to accomplish this week and plan out how I'm going to achieve it.

A new week, a new start. My goal this week is to increase my water intake to at least 10 cups or 80oz of water per day.

How I'm going to do it:
  • Keeping a full glass/bottle of water next to me all day and sipping all day
  • Drink a glass of water when I woke up
  • Drink a glass of water at night before bed
  • Drink a glass of water before my workouts
Wish me luck!

Trickin' and Treatin'! The real scare: NOT eating any Halloween candy. Muhahahahaha!

HALLOWEEN SLIMMING TIP: Expecting trick or treaters?? Don't buy your candy till the last minute. Better yet, only buy candy you DON'T like so that you aren't tempted to eat any of it.

My weaknesses don't  include candies or chocolates or desserts so Halloween is not a scary occasion for me in terms of treats. My real weakness is salty and starchy foods so it's around events like Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas where I really have to pay attention to what I eat.
This year at work I have several fun size kit kats and coffee crisps that are sitting at my desk and I can't be bothered to eat them.

MILESTONE MOMENT: Another weakness of mine used to be seeing food. Meaning that if I see it in front of me, no matter how full I am, I would have to eat it or at least nibble at it. That was me a year ago. Today, I can see food ant

1 tall long starbucks Americano with honey and nonfat/whole milk (1 tbsp each)

Happy Halloween and we won't let Halloween scare us away from eating healthy today!

The scale is a mofo. That's right. A fullscale bitch it is.

It's Friday night people! Do you know where your first drink is??  ( rum and diet coke of course. VERY low in cals)

Weigh-in day:      187lbs
Current Size:       12
Current Waist:     31"

Reflections: Oh darn. I really wanted to see 186 or lower on the scale but my week has been filled with deliciousness and overindulgences (2 of my favourite words!). Ah well. I won't let it get me down. Plus, although my weight is up 1/2 a lb, I definitely see more definition in my body. My back especially! I have some definition there - wowza! So while the scale remains a stubborn bitch this week (ya, you heard me scale!), I will find happiness in other non-scale related areas. Yay!
